Our God-Given Vision
At Crosspointe Baptist Church, our vision is more than a statement—it is the purpose that guides us as we seek to faithfully serve God and make a difference in the lives of others.
“The purpose of Crosspointe Baptist Church is to serve God through worship, reaching the lost, teaching the believer, and fellowshipping with one another, all to the glory of God in Christ Jesus.”
Our desire begins with worship. We believe God is worthy of our praise, our devotion, and our lives. Whether we are gathered together on Sunday morning or serving Him throughout the week, we want everything we do to honor and glorify Him.
We are also committed to reaching the lost with the good news of Jesus Christ. The Gospel is at the heart of our ministry, and we want to be a church that reaches beyond our walls to share the hope, grace, forgiveness, and new life that can be found in Christ.
Our vision includes teaching the believer. Following Jesus is a lifelong journey of growing in faith and understanding God’s Word. Through preaching, Bible study, Sunday School, Life Groups, and ministries for every age, Crosspointe seeks to help believers grow spiritually and become faithful disciples of Christ.
We also recognize the importance of fellowshipping with one another. The church is a family. We were never meant to walk through life alone. Through worship, ministry, meals, special events, and everyday relationships, we strive to create a place where people can connect, encourage one another, serve together, and experience genuine Christian community.
Most importantly, everything we do has one ultimate purpose: to bring glory to God in Christ Jesus. Our programs, ministries, worship services, outreach efforts, and fellowship are not about us. They are opportunities to point people to Jesus and honor Him.

Our History

The history of Crosspointe Baptist Church could be written in many different ways. Instead of giving the chronological history of dates and times of the events that have marked our history, I have chosen to present the spiritual history which I feel is the more important part of our history. I hope you find it inspiring and challenging.
Crosspointe began in the mind of God and on the hearts of the leaders of the Cabarrus Baptist Association. The New Church Planting Team sought leadership to plant new churches in the area's growing population. It was determined that Copperfield area was a place that needed a new church.
After months of seeking a "church planter", God spoke to me about being the leader to this effort. After hours of fervent prayer and seeking God's will for my life; Gloria and I found the peace and knowledge that God was calling us to become church planters. We knew in our hearts that we must move from our own security to the security of faith and trust in the One who had never failed us.
Through the generosity of the Cabarrus Baptist Association, the N.C. Baptist State Convention, the North American Mission Board and Centerview Baptist in Kannapolis, Crosspointe Baptist Church was born. Gloria and I began to pray, work and visit in order to share God's vision with anyone that would listen and a few did.
On January 23, 2000, those few came together to pray, listen and seek the will of God for our future. As the snow fell outside, those of us on the inside became excited, sensing that we were about to be a part of something that was bigger than we could ever imagine.
We met at Cabarrus Baptist Association on LeeAnn Drive. It was refreshing to see people with the desire to pray, worship, love God and each other. Easter was the official beginning of Crosspointe.
I began to look for land in the Copperfield area. The land in the Copperfield area was expensive. The quote was $350,000 for an acre. With only forty-five to fifty members, this amount was out of the question. I prayed, the people prayed and we trusted that if God truly meant for us to exist then, He would have the answer. Within a month God had given us 19.3 acres of land in the Copperfield area for a price of $180,000. God led Mr. Raiford Troutman to purchase the land and hold it in trust for us until we could secure the money to buy it. When we pray God does not stutter in His answer!
God continued to send people who were able to lead in children's work, Bible study, administration, music, fellowship and other areas. Adequate space became a problem for Sunday School classes, so Calvary Lutheran Church allowed us to use their educational space. When we prayed God provided the solution. We were living the scripture found in Nehemiah 4:6 "the people had a mind to work".
As we continued to grow, the Cabarrus Baptist building was too small for worship. It became apparent that rental property was expensive and not easy to find. The land on Copperfield was not accessible due to the right-of-way being too narrow. During this time, Keith Troutman of Troutman Realty called and offered an old church building on American Avenue. I had been taught not to go into an old church building with a new start. This building also needed a lot of work. We declined the offer.
After six months, we could not find anything. The American Avenue building was offered to us again. I went to the building, knelt on my knees at the altar and sought the face of God. I claimed the promise in James 5:16 "the prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective". We worked hard to remodel the building. We cleaned, painted and installed new lighting and carpet. We moved into a newly renovated building and paid a fraction of the cost due to the generosity of the Troutman family.
God's vision began to enlarge as we became more involved in missions. Crosspointe sent Gloria and I to South Africa on a two-week mission trip. We were blessed to make new friends, teach and preach the Gospel. In addition, we were renewed to being committed to giving our lives as missions at Crosspointe. The church went on mission trips to help N.C. flood victims. God instilled in the hearts of the Crosspointe family a love and commitment for local missions and missions abroad.
When God's people are moving forward, many things happened to test our faith. We had problems with our music leaders, families destroyed, lost musicians and our offering fell short. What did we do? We prayed more and we prayed harder seeking God's will and asking Him for faith to hold onto His vision for Crosspointe. Our prayers were heard and God again answered. More people were saved, more people joined the church and caught the vision. Our musicians and our choir increased in number. Our budget almost doubled in two years and we were meeting this expanded budget each month. God answered our prayers with a resounding "YES...I will bless those who praise Me".
During these eight years, Crosspointe never lost sight of the vision God gave us in the beginning. We did prayer walks, knelt at the alter and prayed privately. God sent us a person gifted in building and things began to move. The land was ready for buildings. God is faithful in His promises.
The most important part of our church is the people. I have often said "Jesus did not die for a building, He died for people". Our mission should be reaching and teaching people about Him and how to live our lives for Him. Jesus said "you will be my witness". It is our goal to be obedient.
2010 - We settled in our new location. New outreach programs started and a new Hispanic mission was started. We had more baptisms and people joining than ever in the history of our church.
2015 - We have continued to see new people join our church and this is always exciting. We have updated our worship center with new carpet and lighting. We called new staff and new ministries. Our Ministry Assistant, Timothy Walters leads our youth and our theater performances. Our Music Director, Amy Herbert, leads our Youth Band called 1P2:9. The members of our Youth band are talented musicians and singers that bring Contemporary music to our church that is enjoyed by all. Amy also leads our theater performances and the children's performances. We are outreaching into our neighborhoods to connect with residents through Bible teaching and helping families.
2016 - We have also been blessed to have retired $500,000 of our debt. We know this is a blessing from God for a congregation our size. Our largest debt is under one million dollars. We still had a smaller loan of $57,000 which has been paid in full.
2017 - We have received four trailers to add to our space. We have plans to make a Fellowship Hall with one of the trailers. We have exciting plans for the other trailers as we grow. The Royal Ambassadors and Girls In Action meet on Wednesday evenings. They participate in their annual trip to Camp Mundo Vista. The youth participates in their annual trip to Caswell. Both groups continue to grow spiritually and in size.
We know God is still working in our church. Many lives are being changed daily. We continue to pray and work together to grow our church and reach more people here and around the world. If you don't have a church home, we invite you to be a part of our loving church family!
2023 - A new ministry, a new vision. Crosspointe Christian Academy began as a homeschool co-op in 2023. By God's grace is has grown into a fully operational Christian School that officially opened its doors on September 2, 2025. As of today, we have over 100 students and counting! We are expanding our space to elevate our impact, and we are excited to see what the future holds for Crosspointe Christian Academy. Go Lions!
